June 2003, Jon seriously injured his hand, he and his brothers were playing after watching Robin Hood. He was sharpening his "sword" (as seen on the film when a blacksmith used a sharpening stone to do the same). As he pushed his stick across the tyre it slipped and went into the wheel sprocket and his hand was dragged along with it. As a result he chopped the ends of his thumb and two fingers off. He went to Alder Hey and they did a fantastic job of stitching him up. He was a very, very brave boy.
